Arsenal are one of London's most followed clubs and a top-three travel destination for visiting football fans in the city. The Emirates Stadium, opened in 2006, holds just over 60,000 fans in a tight North London bowl, and Holloway Road on a matchday is wall-to-wall red and white.

This guide covers how to get tickets, which London airport to use, where to stay and how to make the most of a weekend around the Emirates.

The Emirates has shed its 'library' reputation in recent seasons. The North Bank now drives a genuine wall of noise on big European and London-derby nights.

Where to stay

  • King's Cross / Islington

10-15 min on the Victoria line to the ground; great food, bars and transport links.

Walk to the stadium and pre-match in real Arsenal pubs.

  • Central London (Covent Garden / Soho)

Best for a full weekend; Piccadilly Line direct to Arsenal station.

Tickets

Arsenal sell most tickets through the Silver/Red Member ballot. General public sale is rare for Premier League games but more common for cup ties. Hospitality packages via Arsenal's official site are the easiest guaranteed-seat option for travellers.

Resale should only be done via the Arsenal Ticket Exchange or accredited marketplaces — Holloway Road is heavily policed for touts.

Why visit the Emirates

The Emirates is one of the most modern grounds in England. Sightlines are excellent, the concourses are wide, and the murals and statues outside (Henry, Bergkamp, Adams, Vieira, Chapman) make the walk-in feel like a club museum.

On a Champions League night or a north London derby it is one of the best atmospheres in the Premier League — book ahead for those fixtures specifically.

Matchday in North London

Take the Piccadilly Line to Arsenal station or the Victoria Line to Highbury & Islington. Arsenal station is exit-only after the game, so plan a 10-minute walk to Highbury & Islington for the return journey.

Pre-match pubs near the ground (The Tollington, The Twelve Pins, The Bank of Friendship) fill up early. Upper Street in Islington is the better choice if you want food and a drink before walking down.

FAQs

How do I get Arsenal tickets without a membership?+

Buy Hospitality on the official site or wait for cup-tie general sale. Membership unlocks the main ticket ballot.

Which airport is best for the Emirates?+

Heathrow has the most flights and a direct Piccadilly Line to Arsenal. London City is closest if you can find a flight.

Where do away fans sit?+

The south-east corner of the Emirates, with around 3,000 seats.

Is the Emirates Stadium tour worth it?+

Yes — it includes the dressing rooms, the tunnel, the dugouts and the Arsenal Museum, and runs almost daily.

Can I do Arsenal and another London club in one trip?+

Yes. London hosts up to seven Premier League clubs, so you can often pair Arsenal with Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham or Fulham.
